Product Sourcer — Overview
SellerMagnet’s Sourcer helps you evaluate any Amazon product in depth: analyze product data, competition, costs, and potential profitability. It centralizes the key metrics that sourcing teams need to decide whether to source, scale, or skip a product.
Quick Start
Search by ASIN/EAN/ISBN or Product Name Enter the product code or name in the Search Bar at the top. Choose the desired Marketplace from the dropdown and click Search to pull product data.
Chrome Extension Integration The Chrome badge in the top-right lets you install and connect the Sourcer Extension. This enables direct analysis from any Amazon product page.

Details Overview (Main Screen)
Once you run a search, the Details Overview shows four main blocks of information:

1) Product Information
Product Title and Image: Identify the exact product.
ASIN: Unique identifier on Amazon.
Rating & Reviews: Average customer rating and total number of reviews.
BSR (Bestseller Rank): Indicates the relative sales velocity in the product’s main category. Lower rank = higher sales volume.
Est. Sales: Estimated monthly sales, based on BSR trends.
Max Cost: The highest unit cost you can pay while still maintaining a non-negative ROI at current BuyBox price.
BuyBox Price: The current price holding the BuyBox.
Amazon’s Price: If Amazon Retail is a seller, their listed price.
Lowest FBM / Lowest FBA: Lowest offers per fulfillment method.
BuyBox Share: Indicates which sellers (Amazon or third-party) have been winning the BuyBox.
Private Label: If the listing is controlled by a brand owner (harder to compete).
Offers: Number of sellers on the listing.
Stock: Combined inventory count across sellers.
Variations: Flags if there are multiple variations (size, color, bundle).
Eligible: Whether your account can sell the product.
HazMat: Hazardous materials classification.

Always use Max Cost as your ceiling during supplier negotiations. Add a buffer for inbound shipping, prep and FBM logistics to avoid margin erosion.
2) Profit Calculator (FBA/FBM)
The Profit Calculator estimates profitability at your given cost and sale price.
Cost Price: Net cost you pay per unit.
Sale Price: Gross selling price on Amazon.
Fulfillment Type: Switch between FBA or FBM.
FBM Cost: Additional per-unit fulfillment cost (only when FBM selected).
Maximum Cost: Max allowable purchase cost for break-even.
Total Fees: Amazon referral + fulfillment fees.
VAT Due: Value-added tax on the sale.
Breakeven Sale Price: Price required to cover all costs.
Estimated Amazon Payout: Net payout from Amazon after fees.
Estimated Profit, Profit Margin, ROI: Core profitability indicators.

Warning: Fee estimates are sensitive to category, size and weight. Unexpected results? Double-check the product dimensions and weight tier in Seller Central.
3) Offers (Competition Table)
The Offers table lists all sellers for the product:
Fulfillment: Whether the seller uses FBA or FBM.
Seller: Seller name.
Price: Listed selling price.
Stock: Units available from that seller.

Caution: Listings with many FBM sellers and falling prices often signal a price war. High-stock FBA sellers can also create price floors.
4) Graphs
The lower panels show historical trends:
BSR History: Demand trends over time.
Price History: Price volatility and floors/ceilings.
Monthly Sold: Estimated sales volume by month.
BuyBox Share: Which seller won the BuyBox and when.

Sourcer Legend (Field Definitions)

BSR (Bestseller Rank): Ranking within the main category, updated hourly, reflecting sales performance.
Estimated Sales: Calculated monthly sales estimate derived from BSR data.
Max Cost: The maximum sourcing cost allowed to avoid negative ROI.
BuyBox Price: Price currently holding the BuyBox.
Amazon’s Price: The price Amazon Retail lists if they sell the product.
Lowest FBM / Lowest FBA: Lowest market offers split by fulfillment method.
BuyBox Share: Distribution of BuyBox wins among sellers over the last 30 days.
Private Label: Indicates brand-owner control (reduced competition opportunity).
Offers: Total number of sellers on the listing.
Stock: Combined seller inventory available.
Variations: If the listing has multiple SKUs (size, color, bundle).
Eligible: Whether your account is allowed to sell.
HazMat: Amazon hazardous material classification.
History (Recall Past Checks)
The History Section keeps track of all recent searches, with:
Picture of the product.
Title of the product.
ASIN (unique identifier).
Timestamp when search was performed.
This lets you revisit products without retyping details.

Practical Workflows
Quick Viability Check: Look at Max Cost, run both FBA and FBM in the Profit Calculator, scan Offers and BSR trend. If unprofitable, move on.
Price War Detection: Combine Price History + Offers growth. If margins are collapsing, avoid or limit buy-in.
Replenishment Decisions: Use Monthly Sold vs. your stock to plan reorder points.
Common Pitfalls
Mistaking Max Cost as “safe buy price” without adding your unique costs (FBM shipping, 3PL, prep).
Ignoring Variations: one child ASIN may be high volume, another may be stagnant.
Overreacting to spikes in Monthly Sold without checking if it was promo-driven or seasonal.
Troubleshooting
Unexpected fees/payouts? Recheck product size tier and fees in Seller Central.
Ineligible? See Eligible status and Amazon’s brand/category gating rules.
HazMat flagged? Verify if FBA storage is allowed in your region.
With Sourcer, you get a full picture of demand, pricing, competition, and profitability in one dashboard, making sourcing decisions faster and safer.
