📋 Overview

SellerMagnet PPC Ad Opportunities - product scoring and launch presets screenshot

The Ad Opportunities page answers one question: which of my products should I advertise next?

It scans your live Amazon catalog, finds the ASINs that are selling organically but are not yet in any campaign, and scores each one from 0 to 100 on how ready it is for ads. Every candidate is sorted into a tier - STAR, GROWTH, TEST, or SKIP - so you always know what to launch first. From any card you can launch a tailored campaign in one click, after a pre-flight estimate shows you the economics before anything is created.

You will find it in the left sidebar under Amazon PPC → Ad Opportunities (the rocket icon).

Why this matters: Most sellers advertise the products they think are winners, not the ones the data says are ready. Advertising a product with no stock, a thin margin, or a broken listing burns budget. Opportunities flips this around: it surfaces the ASINs with proven organic demand, healthy margins, and stock on hand - the ones most likely to turn ad spend into profit - and it tells you why the rest were left out.

Related page: The AI Optimizer also surfaces opportunities inside its optimization flow. This page is the dedicated, standalone home for the feature, with the full catalog grid, filters, tier chips, and the gate breakdown.

The Opportunity Score

Each ASIN is rated on a 5-factor composite score (0-100). Hover the score on any card to see the breakdown. The five subscores are shown as small progress bars inside the card:

Subscore
What it measures

Velocity

Recent organic sales momentum - is this product selling now?

Margin

Profit headroom after fees and cost - can it absorb ad spend?

BSR

Best Sellers Rank strength and trend (with a mini sparkline)

Stock

Days of cover on hand - is there enough inventory to advertise?

Listing Health

Content quality signals - images, title, and listing completeness

The five subscores roll up into the single 0-100 opportunity score, which drives the tier:

Tier
Score band
Meaning

STAR

80+

Your strongest bets - deploy first

GROWTH

60-79

Solid candidates - schedule next

TEST

40-59

Unproven - probe with a small budget

SKIP

below 40

Not worth ad spend yet - open the card to see why

Cards also carry a confidence pill (High / Medium / Low) that reflects how much data the estimate is based on. A high score with low confidence means "promising, but thin data" - treat it as a TEST even if the number looks like a STAR.

Headline Metrics (KPI Strip)

The strip at the top of the page counts your opportunities and estimates the payoff:

Card
Description

STAR opportunities

Count of ASINs scoring 80+ (deploy first)

GROWTH opportunities

Count of ASINs scoring 60-79 (schedule next)

TEST opportunities

Count of ASINs scoring 40-59 (small budget probe)

Estimated daily uplift

Sum of the expected extra daily revenue if you launch the surfaced opportunities, with a tier distribution bar (STAR / GROWTH / TEST / SKIP)

Quick read: Start with the STAR count. If it shows a handful of products, those are the fastest wins available to you right now. The Estimated daily uplift is a directional projection, not a guarantee - use it to prioritize, not to forecast revenue to the cent.

Filters, Timeframe, and Re-scan

The action card (top right) and the sticky filter bar control what the grid shows:

About the Timeframe: A longer window (90 or 180 days) surfaces listings that sold well historically but are dormant in the last 30 days - hidden re-launch candidates. Note that the "already advertised" exclusion always uses Amazon Ads' 90-day retention, regardless of your organic lookback.

Why Products Were Filtered (Eligibility Gates)

Not every ASIN in your catalog is a good ad candidate, and the page is honest about who got left out. Expand the "Why products were filtered" panel to see a breakdown of the eligibility gates and how many ASINs each one excluded. Common gate reasons:

Gate reason
What it means
How to fix

Already advertised

The ASIN is already in a live campaign (90-day window)

Nothing to do - it is already covered

Listing inactive

The listing is not currently buyable

Reactivate the listing in Seller Central

Missing price

No list price is set, so margin cannot be scored

Set a list price on the listing

No stock

No inventory on hand to advertise

Replenish stock before launching

No organic sales (30d)

No recent organic demand to build on

Widen the Timeframe, or skip for now

Negative margin

The product loses money before any ad spend

Fix pricing or cost data before advertising

The Opportunity Card

Each surfaced ASIN gets a card. Reading top to bottom:

  • Product identity: image, title, ASIN, and marketplace.

  • Tier pill: STAR, GROWTH, TEST, or SKIP, colour-coded.

  • Opportunity score: the big 0-100 number, with a confidence pill (High / Medium / Low) beside it.

  • Subscore bars: Velocity, Margin, BSR, Stock, and Listing Health, each 0-100, with a BSR trend chip (up / flat / down) and mini sparkline.

  • "If you launch" outcome: the projected result of acting on this opportunity - suggested daily budget, estimated daily sales/revenue, expected ACoS, estimated orders, suggested bid, and implied ROAS.

  • Warning chips: any caveats (for example, stale data older than a week).

  • Launch action: a preset launcher button that fires the recommended strategy, with a caret to pick a different one. A template badge shows which campaign template will be used.

SKIP cards additionally show a "why skip" expander explaining what held the score back and how to fix it - so a low score is a diagnosis, not a dead end.

Direct Launch Presets

The launch button defaults to the recommended preset for that ASIN, but you can open the dropdown and pick any of the seven strategies:

Preset
Strategy

Scale Winner

Manual Exact on proven converters, tighter ACoS target

Recover Dormant

Auto Discovery to wake up dormant ASINs

Defend Brand

Exact match on brand stems with aggressive ACoS

Test with AUTO

Low-budget AUTO test - 14-day learning window

Long-Tail Harvest

Exact-match seeds from your organic search-term history

Capture Competitor

Product Targeting at competitor ASINs

Defensive Negate

Negate bleeding terms costing more than roughly EUR 5 per conversion (opens Bulk Negate)

The Pre-Flight Estimate

Choosing a preset does not immediately create a campaign. First, a Pre-flight estimate modal opens so you see the economics before committing. It covers:

  • Economic impact: projected daily spend, the 30-day spend range, projected 30-day revenue lift, implied ROAS, and estimated orders and clicks per day.

  • Profitability: projected net profit over 30 days (revenue lift x product margin, minus ad spend) and a comparison of your break-even ACoS vs Target ACoS, with a headroom badge that warns when your target sits above break-even.

  • Risk and confidence: Low / Medium / High labels, plus the evaluation window the estimate is based on.

  • Campaign setup preview: the template, daily budget, default bid, and Target ACoS that would be used.

  • Keyword seeds: the proposed keywords (a mix of Amazon recommendations and your proven winners).

  • Conflict detection: keywords that already appear in a sibling campaign are flagged ("keyword bleed") so you do not create internal competition.

From the modal you can Continue to review, Pick a different preset, or Cancel.

Export

You can export the opportunities list (CSV or Excel) with the tier, score, suggested template, suggested budget, expected ACoS, and the daily sales/orders estimates, plus each of the five subscores (Velocity, Margin, BSR, Stock, Listing Health). This is useful for planning a launch calendar with your team or an account manager.

Worked Example: Reviving a Dormant Best-Seller

Situation: You sell kitchenware on Amazon.de. You set the Timeframe to Last 6 months (180d) and re-scan. A stainless-steel milk frother appears as a GROWTH opportunity, score 68, Medium confidence.

What the card shows: Velocity 54, Margin 82, BSR 61 (trend flat), Stock 90, Listing Health 70. The "if you launch" panel projects a suggested budget of EUR 8/day, an estimated EUR 34/day in sales, an expected ACoS of 23%, and an implied ROAS of about 4.3x. The card recommends the Recover Dormant preset.

Why it surfaced: The frother sold strongly last winter but has gone quiet in the last 30 days, so it never shows up in a standard 30-day view. The 180-day lookback caught it. Strong margin and full stock make it a low-risk re-launch.

Action: You click Launch → Recover Dormant. The pre-flight estimate shows a projected 30-day net profit of roughly +EUR 190, and your break-even ACoS (34%) sits comfortably above your 23% Target ACoS - a healthy headroom badge. No keyword-bleed flags. You click Continue to review, confirm, and the Auto Discovery campaign launches.

Result: You woke up a proven product with a small, controlled budget instead of guessing. If it performs, the Search Terms page will let you harvest its best queries into a manual campaign in a few weeks.

(All figures above are illustrative.)

⚠️ Common Mistakes to Avoid

✅ Best Practices

  • Work top-down by tier. Launch STARs first, then GROWTH, then selectively TEST. Leave SKIPs alone until you have fixed what their "why skip" note flags.

  • Trust margin over velocity for new spend. A high-margin product with modest velocity is safer to advertise than a fast-moving product with razor-thin margin, because it can absorb the ad cost.

  • Read the gate panel as a health check. A large "Missing price" or "Negative margin" bucket is telling you your catalog data needs attention - fixing it improves accuracy across the whole platform.

  • Match the preset to the goal. Use Scale Winner for proven converters, Recover Dormant for sleeping best-sellers, Test with AUTO when you want Amazon to discover terms for you.

  • Re-scan after inventory or pricing changes. Scores depend on stock and margin, so a re-scan after a restock or repricing can surface new opportunities.

🔧 Troubleshooting

"No opportunities surfaced yet"

  • Widen the Profile filter. Switch from a single marketplace to All Marketplaces.

  • Widen the Timeframe. Move from 30 days to 90 or 180 days to include products that sold well earlier.

  • Open the gate panel. If most of your catalog was excluded for "Already advertised", that is actually good news - it means your active products are already covered. If it is "Missing price" or "Negative margin", fix that data and re-scan.

"The page says my data is being loaded"

  • Ad Opportunities requires a connected Amazon Advertising account and a completed data sync. If you see the connect banner, connect your account in PPC Settings. If you see the sync banner, your advertising data is still loading - you will be emailed once it is ready.

"A card shows a stale-data warning"

  • The opportunity data is more than a week old, so the scores may be outdated. Click Re-scan Catalog to refresh.

"The launch button did nothing / warned about a duplicate"

  • If a campaign for that product was launched very recently, Amazon reports typically lag 24-48h, so a second launch would create a duplicate. Wait for the first campaign to appear in the PPC Manager before launching again.

❓ FAQ

How is an "opportunity" different from a keyword suggestion?

An opportunity is a product (ASIN) that is not yet advertised but looks ready for a campaign. Keyword suggestions live on the Keyword Research page and help you fill an existing campaign with terms. Opportunities is about deciding what to advertise; Keyword Research is about what to bid on.

What does the score actually blend?

Five factors: Velocity (recent organic sales), Margin (profit headroom), BSR (rank strength and trend), Stock (days of cover), and Listing Health (content quality). They combine into a single 0-100 score, which sets the tier (STAR 80+, GROWTH 60-79, TEST 40-59, SKIP below 40).

Why is a product I already advertise not shown?

By design. The page only surfaces ASINs that are not already in a live campaign (checked against Amazon Ads' 90-day retention). Products you already advertise are excluded via the "Already advertised" gate - you can see the count in the gate panel.

Does launching from a card change my account immediately?

No. Selecting a preset opens the pre-flight estimate first. Nothing is created until you review the economics and confirm. You can cancel or switch presets at any point before confirming.

Why did a dormant best-seller only appear on the 180-day scan?

The default 30-day Timeframe scores products on recent organic sales. A product that sold well months ago but is quiet now has low recent velocity, so it scores poorly (or not at all) on a 30-day window. Widening to 90 or 180 days lets its historical demand count, surfacing it as a re-launch candidate.

Is the "Estimated daily uplift" a guarantee?

No. It is a directional projection based on the score, margin, and category signals - a way to prioritize which opportunities to launch first. Always confirm the real economics in the pre-flight estimate before creating a campaign.
