## 📋 Overview

The **Alerts System** monitors your Amazon listings and seller account for critical events and notifies you the moment something requires attention. Whether a new seller appears on your listing (hijacking), you lose the Buy Box, or your BSR shifts significantly, SellerMagnet detects the change and alerts you through multiple channels.

For brand owners, the Alerts System is your first line of defense against unauthorized sellers. For resellers, it is an early warning system for competitive changes that affect your sales velocity.

## 📋 Dashboard Overview

The Alerts page is organized into several sections:

### Stat Cards

Three summary cards at the top provide a quick status overview:

| Card          | Description                                                   | Indicator Color |
| ------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------- | --------------- |
| **Active** | Number of alerts currently monitoring your listings | Green |
| **Paused** | Alerts that have been temporarily suspended | Grey |
| **Triggered** | Alerts that have fired at least once (recent events detected) | Red |

Click any stat card to filter the alerts table below to that status.

### Quick Actions Bar

A toolbar with shortcut buttons for common operations:

| Action               | Description                                  |
| -------------------- | -------------------------------------------- |
| **Create New Alert** | Opens the alert creation wizard |
| **Use Template** | Dropdown with pre-configured alert templates |
| **Pause All** | Temporarily pauses all active alerts |
| **Resume All** | Reactivates all paused alerts |
| **Export Logs** | Downloads alert history as a CSV file |

### Priority Log

A side panel showing the most critical recent alert events, ordered by severity:

| Severity     | Badge Color | Meaning                                                            |

## Alert Types

SellerMagnet offers three types of monitoring alerts:

{% tabs %}
{% tab title="Hijacking Alert" %}
Monitors your listings for new unauthorized sellers and listing changes.

| What It Detects                      | Severity |
| ------------------------------------ | -------- |
| New seller appearing on your listing | Critical |
| Listing title changed                | Critical |
| Listing images changed               | Warning  |
| Listing category changed             | Warning  |
| Product description modified         | Warning  |

**Why it matters:** Hijacking is when unauthorized sellers list counterfeit or inferior products on your listing. It damages your brand reputation, causes negative reviews, and violates your intellectual property.

{% hint style="danger" %}
**Warning:** Hijacking alerts require Brand Registry enrollment for full effectiveness. Without Brand Registry, you have limited tools to respond to hijacking events. We strongly recommend enrolling in Amazon Brand Registry before relying on hijacking alerts.
{% endhint %}
{% endtab %}

{% tab title="Buy Box Alert" %}
Monitors Buy Box ownership for your listings.

| What It Detects                | Severity |
| ------------------------------ | -------- |
| You lost the Buy Box | Warning |
| New competitor won the Buy Box | Warning |
| Buy Box suppressed (no winner) | Info |
| You regained the Buy Box | Info |

**Why it matters:** Losing the Buy Box typically means an immediate 70-90% drop in sales for that ASIN (Amazon Standard Identification Number). Early detection lets you adjust pricing (via the Repricer) or investigate the cause.
{% endtab %}

{% tab title="BSR / Rank Alert" %}
Monitors Best Sellers Rank changes for your products.

| What It Detects                           | Severity |
| ----------------------------------------- | -------- |
| BSR dropped by more than X% | Warning |
| BSR improved by more than X% | Info |
| Product left the top N in its category | Warning |
| Product entered the top N in its category | Info |

**Why it matters:** BSR changes are the earliest indicator of sales velocity changes. A rising BSR (worsening rank) may signal stockout issues, listing problems, or competitive pressure.
{% endtab %}
{% endtabs %}

| **Buy Box Watchdog** | Buy Box | Monitors all products; triggers immediately on loss; email + dashboard |
| **Rank Tracker** | BSR | Monitors all products; triggers on 20%+ BSR change; dashboard only |

Click **Use Template** in the Quick Actions bar, select a template, optionally customize settings, and activate.

{% hint style="success" icon="rocket" %}
**Pro tip:** Start with all three templates to get complete coverage immediately. You can fine-tune thresholds and notification preferences after observing the alert patterns for a week.

## 🎯 Realistic Example

**Scenario:** You are a brand owner selling premium skincare products on Amazon.de. You want to detect unauthorized sellers immediately and protect your Buy Box.

**Setup:**

1. **Hijacking Alert:** Template "Hijacking Guard": monitors all 35 ASINs, triggers on any new seller, sends email + dashboard notification.
2. **Buy Box Alert:** Template "Buy Box Watchdog": monitors all 35 ASINs, triggers immediately on Buy Box loss, sends email notification.
3. **BSR Alert:** Custom: monitors your top 10 ASINs, triggers when BSR worsens by 15%, dashboard notification only.

**Day 12:** You receive an email at 09:14 AM: "HIJACKING DETECTED. New seller 'CheapCosmetics\_DE' appeared on ASIN B09PREMIUM1 at EUR 19.99 (your price: EUR 29.99)."

**Your response:**

1. Open the SellerMagnet dashboard: the Priority Log shows the Critical event.
2. Check the alert logs for details: the unauthorized seller appeared 3 minutes ago.
3. Your MAP (Minimum Advertised Price) Enforcement repricer strategy holds your price at EUR 29.99.
4. File a complaint through Amazon Brand Registry.
5. The unauthorized seller is removed within 48 hours.

Without alerts, you might not have noticed the hijacker for days, during which they could have sold counterfeit products under your brand, generating negative reviews.

<summary><strong>⚠️ Common Mistakes to Avoid</strong></summary>

| Mistake                                          | Why It Hurts                                                |
| ------------------------------------------------ | ----------------------------------------------------------- |
| Not setting up Hijacking Alerts for brand owners | Unauthorized sellers go undetected for days or weeks |
| Setting BSR thresholds too sensitive (5%) | You get flooded with noise from normal daily fluctuations |
| Ignoring triggered alerts | The alert system only works if you act on the notifications |
| Using only dashboard notifications | You miss critical events when not logged in |
| Not exporting logs for record-keeping | You lose evidence needed for Brand Registry complaints |

</details>

\## ✅ Best Practices

1. **Enable email notifications for Critical alerts:** Dashboard-only notifications are fine for informational events, but hijacking and Buy Box loss demand immediate email alerts.
2. **Set BSR thresholds at 15-20%:** This filters out normal daily noise while still catching meaningful trends.
3. **Review the Priority Log daily:** Spend 2 minutes each morning scanning the log for events that need action.
4. **Export logs monthly:** Keep a record of all hijacking events for Brand Registry complaints and potential legal action.
5. **Combine alerts with the Repricer:** When a Buy Box alert fires, your repricer should already be adjusting. Use alerts to verify the repricer is responding appropriately.
6. **Start with templates, then customize:** Templates give you immediate coverage. After observing patterns for a week, fine-tune thresholds to reduce noise.

## ❓ FAQ

<details>

<summary><strong>How quickly does the system detect changes?</strong></summary>

The monitoring cycle checks your listings periodically based on your subscription plan. Higher-tier plans offer more frequent checks (as often as every 15 minutes).

</details>

<details>

<summary><strong>Can I receive alerts via SMS or Slack?</strong></summary>

Currently, alerts are delivered via email and the SellerMagnet dashboard. Additional channels may be added in future updates.

</details>

<details>

<summary><strong>Is there a limit to how many alerts I can create?</strong></summary>

Limits depend on your subscription plan. Check your plan details for the maximum number of active alerts.

</details>

<details>

<summary><strong>Will I be alerted if Amazon itself starts selling my product?</strong></summary>

Yes, if you have a Hijacking Alert configured. Amazon Retail appearing as a seller triggers the alert. The Buy Box Alert will also fire since Amazon Retail almost always wins the Buy Box.

</details>

<details>

<summary><strong>Can I set alerts for products I do not sell?</strong></summary>

Currently, alerts are designed for products in your own catalog. To monitor competitor ASINs, use the Product Sourcer for periodic manual checks.

</details>

<details>

<summary><strong>How far back do alert logs go?</strong></summary>

Alert logs are retained for 90 days. Export logs regularly if you need longer-term records.
