Overview
The Initial Setup Wizard runs automatically the first time you log in to SellerMagnet. It guides you through three critical phases:
Welcome Survey: Personalize your experience
Amazon Connection: Link your Seller Central account
Account Configuration: Set currency, VAT, and display preferences
Completing all three phases typically takes 5-10 minutes. After that, SellerMagnet begins syncing your Amazon data in the background.
Phase 1: Welcome Survey
What It Is
The Welcome Survey is a 5-step questionnaire that runs before the main setup. It collects information about your business to personalize the SellerMagnet experience.

Step 5: Confirmation
Review your answers and click Submit Survey. After submission, you are redirected to the Amazon Connection page.
The survey cannot be retaken after submission. Double-check your answers on the confirmation page before clicking Submit. If you need to change your responses later, contact support at [email protected].
Phase 2: Amazon Connection (Page 1)
After completing the survey, the setup wizard presents a two-page configuration flow. Page 1 handles the Amazon connection.
Top Bar Navigation
The top bar shows a step indicator with two steps:
Connect Amazon (active on Page 1)
Finish Setup (active on Page 2)
A checkmark replaces the step number once a step is completed. The top bar also shows:

Real-World Scenario: EU Seller Setup
Maria sells on Amazon DE, FR, and IT with FBA:
Connection Name: "EU Main Account"
Import Start Date: January 1, 2025 (6 months of history)
Primary Marketplace: amazon.de (her highest-volume marketplace)
VAT on Amazon Fees: Enabled (Amazon charges VAT on fees in Germany)
VAT Rate: 19% (German standard VAT)
Clicking "Connect to Amazon"
When you click the Connect to Amazon button:
SellerMagnet validates all form fields.
You are redirected to Amazon Seller Central (seller.amazon.com or your regional equivalent).
On Amazon's page, you log in with your Seller Central credentials.
Amazon asks you to authorize SellerMagnet to access your selling data.
After authorizing, Amazon redirects you back to SellerMagnet.
SellerMagnet receives the authorization token and begins the connection process.
You are authorizing directly on Amazon's website. SellerMagnet never sees or stores your Amazon login password. The authorization uses Amazon's official SP-API (Selling Partner API) OAuth 2.0 flow with end-to-end encryption.
Do not close the browser during the redirect. The authorization flow involves multiple redirects between SellerMagnet and Amazon. Closing the browser mid-flow will cancel the process. If this happens, simply start the connection again.

SellerMagnet saves your currency and VAT preferences.
The data sync process begins in the background.
You are redirected to the post-setup onboarding page.
Post-Setup: Onboarding Steps
After completing the wizard, SellerMagnet shows a guided onboarding page with three steps to help you get productive immediately:
Step 1: Watch the Overview Video
A 3-minute video introduction to the SellerMagnet dashboard. Click the thumbnail to open the video player.
Step 2: Explore Your Products
Click the Products link to jump to your product catalog. While the initial sync is running, you will see products appearing in real-time as they are imported.
Step 3: Add Your Expenses
Click the Expenses link to start entering your Cost of Goods Sold (COGS). Accurate expense data is essential for meaningful profit calculations.
Your profit data will be inaccurate until you add expenses. SellerMagnet calculates profit as Revenue minus Amazon Fees minus Shipping minus COGS (Cost of Goods Sold). Without COGS, your margins will appear artificially high.
Skipping the Onboarding
If you prefer to explore on your own, click Skip in the top-right corner. You can always access the documentation and tutorials from the Help Center in the sidebar.

Pro Tip: You do not need to wait for the sync to complete. Start exploring the dashboard immediately, data will populate in real-time as it is imported.
After Sync Completes
Once the initial sync is done:
Your Dashboard shows full KPIs and charts
Products page displays your complete catalog with cost data
Orders page shows historical order data
All tools are fully operational
SellerMagnet continues to sync data automatically every few hours to keep your dashboard up to date.
FAQ
Can I restart the setup wizard if I made a mistake?
The setup wizard runs once per project. If you need to change settings after completion, use the Settings panel (gear icon in the sidebar) to modify connection details, currency, VAT, and other preferences.
What if I close the browser during Amazon authorization?
The authorization will be cancelled. Log back into SellerMagnet and the setup wizard will resume from where you left off. You will need to click "Connect to Amazon" again to restart the authorization flow.
Can I connect multiple Amazon accounts during initial setup?
The initial setup wizard connects your first Amazon account. After setup is complete, you can add additional connections from Settings > Connections in the dashboard.
How far back should I set the import start date?
We recommend 3-6 months for the initial import. This gives you enough historical data for meaningful analytics without an excessively long sync time. You can extend the date range later from Settings.
What happens if my Amazon account has multiple regions (NA, EU, FE)?
Each Amazon region requires a separate connection. Connect your primary region first during the wizard, then add additional regions from Settings > Connections.
Is the demo mode available without connecting Amazon?
Yes. SellerMagnet offers a Demo Mode that lets you explore the full dashboard with sample data. Demo mode is accessible from the login page and does not require an Amazon connection. Demo sessions last 30 minutes.
Why does the setup wizard show two steps instead of the survey?
If you have already completed the survey in a previous session, the wizard skips directly to the two-page Amazon connection and configuration flow. The survey runs only once.
